With a cozy ambience and attentive service, it's no wonder why locals rave about this spot.
Customer experiences paint a vivid picture of the restaurant's offerings. As Kimberly K. highlights, while Sushi Japon & Hibachi Grill may not aim to compete with high-end venues like Uchi, it excels as a local, affordable dining option. She passionately recommends the Kevin and Tiffany rolls, noting their delightful flavors and interesting textures.
The atmosphere is cozy with a quiet charm, making it suitable for any meal, whether you're enjoying a casual dinner or a lively lunch with friends. Jesse S. further credits the attentive staff, enhancing the overall experience with their knowledge of the menu. The hibachi chicken, paired with extra yum yum sauce, has had quite a few fans, including Keith T., who gave a glowing review of their takeout dishes.
But what truly sets Sushi Japon apart is the shimmering simplicity of its dishes. Customers rave about the tuna towers, where the eel sauce reigns supreme, complemented perfectly by crispy rice chips. Each dish embodies freshness and passion, allowing diners to savor a piece of Japanese artistry in every bite.
In conclusion, Sushi Japon & Hibachi Grill is more than just a restaurant; it's a local treasure celebrating Japanese cuisine. “ The planning was excellent! We were able to view and interact with regional and international sites and entertainment venues! The service, food and overall ambiance was outstanding! ”
“ I'm updating my review from 2014 because my main complaint was the misleading wait time for multiple to go orders but that has greatly improved. This is not Uchi but they are not trying to be, so I'm giving them 5 stars based on who they are - a local, tasty and affordable Japanese sushi and hibachi restaurant. To be fair, I mainly order to go. In full disclosure, I usually order the same dishes....for years and years. I cannot speak to ambiance or the expanse of the menu, you may need to go read some other reviews for a broader perspective. My main message here is : eat the Kevin and the Tiffany rolls! The Kevin roll has tempura asparagus inside with seared tuna and very thinly sliced, grilled lemon on top. The Tiffany roll delights with escolar and fried garlic. Order the chicken katsu, perfect rice topped with a fried chicken cutlet, egg and a savory sauce. If you like local places, you have to support them or they cease to exist. Don't forget about Sushi Japon, it deserves some love and your business! ”
“ I love tuna towers. It was supposed to be appetizer but I put that shit down as my meal. Honestly, anything drenched in eel sauce is a hit and this was no exception. I did like the crispy rice chips it came with it added some crunchy texture ”
“ This is a nice little cozy Japanese eatery. The food was super tasty, but the portions a little smaller than I'm used to. My coworkers enjoyed the sushi and I enjoyed the hibachi chicken. I can't speak on the hibachi show itself, but they did ask if we wanted to sit there. Server was attentive and knew the menu. I would recommend this restaurant based on my single experience. ”
“ Celebrated the night with some of their take out Crab, salmon, yellow fin, and trout. Hibachi chicken with extra yum yum sauce Everything was tasty and not too bad on the cost. 10 out of 10 will be goin back for more. Eat so much sushi, my stomach is sore. ”
“ I have been here a few times now, ordering something different each time. Everything has been delicious! The staff are both attentive and entertaining. It's good for both kids or a just a date night out. ”
“ Sushi Japon has been around for years! It is definitely a must try if you are in the mood for sushi, sake or even a cold margarita. They have a great Happy Hour Menu which is our favorite, you get to try a little of everything plus some good peach Sake. Have not eaten on the Hibachi side just yet but can't wait to enjoy it. You don't have to eat Hibachi they do have 2 sections. Its a nice intimate ambiance not too big inside just perfect. We always receive great service and food, a must try if you are new to Austin. ”
“ The chef had a great sense of humor and a really engaging personality! I ordered the hibachi chicken and steak. The soup and salad that came with my meal were delicious. The salad dressing was phenomenal and the appetizers really hit the spot. The fried rice didn't come by default with the food and there was a slight up charge. I found the up charge a bit odd- not sure why the menu doesn't already include fried rice and automatically reflect a higher price. The hibachi style rice and meat were pretty good but not amazing. Also, we had a very long wait between the time we were seated and the time the chef came. Overall, I had a positive experience and could see myself going back. ”
